HISTORY OF KALABAKA
Built on the foothills of the Rocks of Meteora, it is a commercial and tourist centre, not only in order for someone to visit the Meteora but also in order to visit Chasia, Koziaka or Triggia and Aspropotamos, while it is also a passage to Epirus.

ANCIENT TOWN OF KALABAKA
The biggest part of pre-war Kalabaka extended from the current Town hall up to the small church of Saint-George, in the district of Sopotos. The town in this space was structured densely, the squares were small, the residences were close-bodied and the paver streets were narrow.

KASTRAKI OF KALABAKA
It is situated between Kalabaka and Meteora, literally in the shade of the rocks and it is the most developed tourist village of the prefecture of Trikala. Its residents are occupied mainly with tourism and on smaller scale with agriculture. The Byzantine temple of Dormition of the Mother of God is the most important monument of Kalabaka.
